Bridge Worldwide Wins a SAMMY Award for Best Social Creative

[Cincinnati, OH, Oct 27, 2009]

Bridge Worldwide won an award for Best Social Creative for their work on the Pringles Facebook page and the “Can Hands” banner ad at the SAMMY Awards Gala held on September 17 in New York City. The SAMMY Awards honor overall excellence and breakthrough achievement in social advertising, media and marketing. Winners are selected by an esteemed judging committee of leading social media, and marketing experts, journalists, insiders, marketers, publishers, and social technology visionaries.

“This campaign has truly revolutionized the Pringles digital strategy,” said Michael Wilson, Chief Technology Officer at Bridge Worldwide. “Social networking has become an essential part of the Pringles digital strategy—and this particular campaign provided a platform for future growth in the digital space.”

The Facebook fan page focused on giving fans a consolidated social media location to share their love for the brand with one another and with the Facebook community at large. To increase the fan base, Bridge Worldwide added interactive games as well as a microsite for users to design their own Pringles can and share it with their friends. In addition, media-sharing Facebook applications were used so Pringles fans could upload their own Pringles photos, videos, comments, and reviews. As a result, the Facebook page received 2.7 million fans.

As described in the entry, “Can Hands” is a rich media banner ad that shows a young online audience how fun and eccentric—and even downright weird—life with Pringles can be. As users click on the banner again and again (and again and again), they go deeper and deeper into a story with surprises at every turn, without ever leaving the ad. This tactic engages consumers in creating and participating in the brand experience, making the banner ad entertaining and fun, while leveraging the product benefits. More than 100,000 visits came through the banner in 24 hours.
